The Dragon Barons Re-enactment Sword is fully hand crafted with a thick full tang that extends the full width of the handle.
The high quality blade is hand forged using EN45 high carbon spring steel to make the blade non brittle and give it a spring like quality that will not warp, then tempered for strength and finished with thick edges and a rounded tip for full contact safety.
The sword comes with a leather covered hardwood scabbard and leather interlaced belt
This single handed medieval sword design is from around the 13th century onwards. The short hardwood handle makes it surprisingly easy to handle. Crafted in much the same way as swords were made centuries ago, except that the blades are now forged from high-carbon spring steel, a resource unavailable off-the-shelf to the smiths of the old. The blade has a light polished finish which is closely replicating what the medieval swordsmith was able to achieve. The fittings are aged steel and it has a hardwood handle fixed in place with 4 steel pegs. The full tang can be seen at both sides of the handle and is fixed through the pommel and peened (riveted) into the pommel top.
This makes it possible to hammer the rivet to tighten up the handle if it ever comes loose through prolonged use.
This sword will appeal to the re-enactor who wants a sword with the same appearance as the originals.
