"Flintlock" pistols were so called because the lock uses a flint to strike sparks into the priming pan when the trigger is pulled. A small amount of gunpowder in this pan is ignited, which in turn ignites the main gunpowder charge in the barrel, firing the lead ball. Both the main charge and the ball were loaded from the front, or muzzle, of the barrel, after which the priming charge was poured into the pan - all very time consuming! Often the priming charge would burn but fail to ignite the main charge - whence the expression "flash in the pan!" The original of this particular flintlock pistol was made in England in the 18th century. This non-firing version is accurately detailed - a great costume or conversation piece.

This is beautiful non-firing replica pistol with fully working mechanisms.

    Good Display Piece
    Review by Nathan
This Flintlock makes for a great display piece to hang on the wall.it makes a satisfying click as you cock the weapon, it feels authentic in the hands. The Ramrod is just another part of the pistol and does not come off, but that is to be expected on a replica. The pistol I received had some minor rust on the screws which hold the piece together, but nothing that would be noticeable on a display (even up close) or difficult to deal with. This would make an excellent addition to a wall display or as an extra to your Pirate/Historical costume or LARP session. And for the price, there is really not much to complain about.

Great Flintlock Pistol is sturdy and really looks the part even up close and as a storyteller I am up close with the public and so the kit I choose has to look as original as possible and this pistol is perfect
