The Montefortino-type helmet was the one the Roman army used the longest. From the beginning of the Punic Wars in the 3rd century until the era of Caesar Augustus, a helmet like this one was part of a legionary's standard equipment.
Our Roman helmet is hand hammered from 18 gauge brass and has a typical, bowl-shaped scull with a slightly sloping neck guard. The cheek pieces, which are designed to protect a large part of the face, are riveted to hinges at the temples. Our hammered brass Roman helmet is lined on the inside and the cheek pieces have eyelets so they can be secured with a cord.
We also have a helmet stand for this item as pictured which is usually £19- but if purchased with the helmet is only £15-
