This beautifully made Officers Dirk has been styled on surviving historical specimens of the late 18th century. The wooden hilt is hand carved with vigorous celtic knot work much in the style of the traditional early 18th century fighting dirks. A metal pommel cap and ferrule protect the wooden hilt against damage. The small fork and by-knife are carried in the metal mounted sheath side by side on the front, this fashion although popular in the earlier times was to set the practise which continued not only well into the next century, but is still an integral feature in regimental officers dirks today.
The Scabbard is made in hardwood and covered in black leather and perfectly stitched on the back. The metalwork on the scabbard and handle have grooved detailing. On the back of the scabbard there is a leather belt loop.
