Renaissance Longsword

Swords like this Renaissance longsword are often called bastard or hand and a half swords. The term "bastard" indicates that this versatile sword can be used one handed or two handed.

The double-edged blade has three fullers. The two outer ones run the length of the ricasso only and the middle one extends over approx. one-third the length of the blade. The two side guard rings at the curved crossguard are an indication that this edged weapon was in use during the transition between the rapier and the classic sword.
