Helmets with a face mask hinged at the middle of the forehead and two cheek pieces were used in Roman legions from about 100 A.D. till 400 A.D. This helmet is copied from an original believed to be of German or Gallic origin.
The helmet is handmade from 18 gauge steel, trimmed in brass with brass accents. It has an adjustable leather liner with leather chin strap, and the full interior is lined in suede. The face mask is cast in brass which fully lifts to expose the face. The cheek plates protect both face and ears and also lifts.
