Strong Viking Bearded Axe

This robust Bearded Axe has a axe head of thick high carbon steel. Perfect as a strong workhorse tool.
The axe head is left dark & rough with the exception of its edge, which has been polished and given an edge that is sharpened.

The axe head is mounted to a thick haft of polished hardwood.

This sturdy axe is weighty enough to demand the use of two hands – a suitable axe for someone who wants a large-bladed bearded axe without a very long haft. Although the bearded axe is usually regarded as a weapon of war, there may well have been ones intended for camp and labor duties who would have required a much thicker axe head than the thinner war axes which are unsuitable for use against dense wood.

This axe is certainly of the more robust type – the heavy axe head will lend itself to utility use around the home or work place.
